AILA FURY IN MY LOCALITY

Cyclone Aila had it's impact in our locality too. No,the fury may,in no way, be comparable to that which the people living in the 24 Parganas South, North and elsewhere have been experiencing.

Here trees were uprooted and or branches of them have fallen even on houses with tin-shed ,cash crops were damaged, electricity went off for days together.People faced a lot of problem as supply of drinking water was stopped.Men,women and small children qued up in front of the Municipality deep tube well for long hours.Men from the state Electricity office did a great job. They worked in my locality from 3pm to 10pm with the help of local people to bring back power supply.I ,on my part, was with them for long 7 hours. It is known that Aila left its impact on Bangladesh too.The BRAC(USA) blog (received by me via mail) illustrates how the relief and rescue operation are being carried out there with focus on disaster management on a long term basis.
Some snaps of trees that became victims of Aila are uploaded here.
